ECT-Europe Container Terminals (vroeger Europe Combined Terminals) is een container overslag bedrijf of wel een container terminal operator.<br>
Als knooppunt in de containerlogistiek legt ECT zich toe op de overslag van containers tussen zeeschip,binnenvaart,weg of spoor vervoer, alsmede op de ontwikkeling van corridors naar het achterland.
In de mainport Rotterdam heeft ECT twee terminal complexen t.w. Delta Terminal (Maasvlakte) en Home Terminal (Eemhavengebied). Het overslag proces op de Delta Terminal wordt uitgevoerd middels onbemande automatisch gestuurde voertuigen AGV´s en gerobotiseerde stapelkranen ASC´s. Daarnaast worden straddle carriers, MTS (Multi Trailer Systemen) gebruikt om de overslag tussen de modaliteiten en het containerschipuit te voeren. Een container wordt vanaf een schip via een kadekraan ,de AGV of MTS in de stack geplaatst. Bij de afhandeling van het wegtransport wordt de Cargo Card gebruikt voor het identificeren van chauffeurs en het routeren van chauffeurs over de terminals. Rotterdam is de nummer 1 containerport in Europa.
Er zijn 20ft (1 TEU) en 40 foot (2TEU) containers in meerdere soorten en maten.
Vanaf de ECT terminals zijn er uitstekende intermodale mogelijkheden via weg, spoor, binnenvaart en feeder verbindingen naar het achterland. De achterland terminals zijn in Venlo,Duisburg en Willebroek naast die in Tjechië en Slovakije. Aandeelhouders van ECT zijn Hutchison Ports, Mainport Holding - Gemeentelijk Havenbedrijf en ABN AMRO Bank.<br>

In Mainport Rotterdam ECT operates the Home Terminal (Eemhaven)and the Delta Terminal (Maasvlakte). Rotterdam is the number 1 containerport in Europe. The Delta terminal is an integrated hub with unrivalled road connections, high frequency non-stop shuttle trains, barge, feeder and shortsea connections with the hinterland. Rotterdam is the hubport with a large feeder network. The transfer of modality is carried out by automatic guided vehicles (AGV) and automatic stacking cranes (ACS). Furthermore stradddle carriers, and multi trailer system (MTS) are used. The roadhauliers are identified by means of the Cargo Card.
The hinterland terminals are located in Venlo,Duisburg and Willebroek in addition to a number of railterminals in Czechia and Slovaka. During a 24 hours operation 20ft (1 TEU) and 40ft (2 TEU) containers are handled on and off the largest containerships.
Adjacent to the ECT terminals the distriparks are located. The beating heart of European transport is the ECT terminal, connected via various intermodal connections by feeder,shortsea,rail,inland shipping and road to the inland destinations.
